 End of an Era

Chairman’s Message

Written by Mark Hotchkiss on 06/06/2024 19:43:28

Good afternoon all,

After nearly 4 years as Chairman of Orford FC Juniors, I have decided that now is the right time to bring my tenure as Chairman to an end.

This has been a very difficult decision to make, but in recent months my role in my work place has changed, demanding more from me and demanding more time away from home and my family.

Further, my son has just been given another year with his academy resulting in even less time I can invest in the club.

As mentioned, some 4 years ago and with very limited knowledge of what running a club involved, I took the role with nobody else willing to do so.

I always used a very simple goal (as long as the children are playing football every week I was happy), which in the main we achieved.

Having started the role of Chairman just before covid, I spent most of my tenure running the club solely which I am sure you can appreciate was a very challenging period in the clubs history, and very challenging on my sanity 😂. However, I would not have changed my time with Orford FC Juniors. It has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life, standing and watching the teams enjoying play football, the kids smiles, friendships be built and all regardless of Matchday results.

We now have some amazing people helping to move the club forward, Christopher Curtis (Club Secretary), Mark Hotchkiss (Assistant Secretary), John Graham (Fundraising Secretary), and I can’t miss out our longstanding Joanne Phillips (Welfare Officer). This set of people will now move this amazing club forward in to a very bright future.

Having these people on board allows me to sleep easier knowing the club is in safe hands as I make this difficult decision.

My tenure as Chairman will come to an end on the 30th of June. From now until then, I will be transitioning our new Chairman Christopher Curtis and new Treasurer Mark Hotchkiss in to their new roles with the club. At this point not only do I congratulate them, but warm heartedly say thank you for taking on the voluntary roles.

I’d also like to thank all the players and parents for making this experience one I’ll never forget and also take this opportunity to assure you that we will make this a smooth transition, with as little impact to the Coaches, Teams and Players as possible.

Finally, Good luck for the future to everyone that is involved with this amazing club! I know Orford FC Juniors will continue to strive into the future.💚⚽️💚⚽️

Regards,

Craig Davies
